Bathroom Paint Ideas to Turn Your Room Into an Oasis of Calm and Luxury

© Valspar via Lowe's

From white washed walls to a cave-like black, bathroom paint ideas can really set the mood.

Whilst a new refit takes precious time (and oftentimes, a mountain of money), a new paint job can provide instant gratification for design.

A new lick of paint can turn the worst eyesore into the most improved feature. A few coats of fresh and clean paint are truly transformative. Bright white walls are a well established favourite, but dark colours are currently in vogue.

Whether your aesthetic is modern minimalist or ‘go bold or go home’, browsing bathroom paint ideas is a blast for design lovers.

Light & bright white

If you’ve ever stepped into a home improvement shop, you’ll realise there are a number of different shades of white.

Nevertheless, a brightening white is a common cure all should think about for your next bathroom.

Make it glow

Turn your bathroom into a glowy oasis with cool lighting.

The modern ceiling lamp inspiration is the cherry on top for this neutral bathroom. Its white subway tiles and warm white paint positively light up the entire room.

For a similar light, check out the brass west elm Sputnik Chandelier Ceiling Light. Art deco meets space style in an unforgettable piece of lighting.

Spa friendly shades

Luxury taupe

This taupe colour recalls spa massages, mani-pedis and fruit infused water. It’s a taupe with time to waste and money to spend.

Just light the incense and pass the cucumber slices, please.

Bright blue bathroom

A happy blue makes for a relaxing soak. Beautiful blue bathrooms have tranquility and cheer in spades.

Soft sage paint

Sage walls are calm and collected.

A soft and lovely neutral colour, this serene shade is at home on bathroom walls. It’s absolutely dreamy when paired with rustic wood.

Fresh linen

Like fresh laundry blowing in the wind, this aptly coloured paint is a relaxed neutral.

A mid-tone shade is a great backdrop to other splashes of colour and pattern. Likewise, paint the sides of your bathtub grey to add something extra special.

The bold and the beautiful: cosy dark bathroom paint ideas

Deep colours have gone mainstream.

Try experimenting with rich colours in a small bathroom, rather than your living room, which may be too big of a dark leap.

Matte black

It’s all matte black, green tiles, metal and marble in this industrial space.

Textured dark walls

A room encompassed in textured dark walls makes one gorgeous bathroom. And a gigantic matching tub never hurt.

Dark blue sanctuary

Deep, dark blue with a hint of green, Hague Blue, a popular Farrow and Ball favourite, makes this bathroom a sanctuary. London based design blogger Ruthie Matthews absolutely nails the dark paint trend.

Gorgeous deep green

Olive reads deep green in this north facing utility room in Edinburgh.

Scottish Instagrammer Homestead upped the colour department in an otherwise neutral home. Commit to the colour even further by painting your cabinetry the same shade.

London’s best bathroom is black

Someone might have had a bit too much fun at #blistersseason7 last night and as a result I have been lying low today and I’m very much looking forward to diving headfirst into a massive portion of fish and chips in a minute. Also today, two copies of @ekbbmag landed on our doormat and who should we find inside but me talking about our bathroom of dreams. I’ll post some pics on Stories but it’s a really lovely spread featuring pictures by the very, very talented and lovely @kfiszerfoto It’s a real shame they got her name wrong in the credits. These things happen but she took such gorgeous photos I wanted to shout about her talents again on here because I love working with her. . . . . This pic is by another very talented photographer @jmphotocat taken for the Evening Standard when I won London’s Best Bathroom which is definitely a career highlight 🙌🏼 #interiormilk #interior_delux #bathroomdesign #bathroommakeover #bathroominspo #bathroominspiration #bathroomgoals #dreambathroom #interior_magasinet #ihavethisthingwithhome #sorealhomes #abmathome #apartmenttherapy #dslooking #inmydomaine #styleitdark #lonnyliving #sodomino #interiorismo #interior4you #flashesofdelight #planetlivingetc #elledecor #myfabhome #blackbathroom #darkinteriors

Jewel toned bathroom paint ideas

Whilst white may enlarge an already big bathroom, bold tones and dark shades actually serve to expand small bathrooms. Don’t be afraid of daring colours.

Rich blues and golds

Sumptuous blues, gold, oranges are a match made in heaven. Mix in some cool decor items and bits of travel souvenirs for a worldly bathroom that’s unmistakably yours.

Rich burgundy bathroom

This bathroom is certified country glam. Its smooth burgundy walls are pure elegance.

Make the bathtub pop

This Somerset home by fabric designer Kate Medlicott turns the paintbrush to an oft forgotten canvas: the bathtub. This daring orange bathtub is beyond cool.
