If you happen to share a bed with a space invader there could be a solution to all those nights when you feel like you are about to fall off the bed.
At the end of a hectic day, cosying up to the one you love should be a welcome relief, however, for those who share their bed with a someone who loves to sprawl or go full starfish, those precious hours can be lost simply trying to reclaim your rightful share of the bed.
There could be a solution and simple save from all those tense sleeping partnerships thanks to Ford.
The car manufacturer has incorporated technology typically found in cars into the bedroom to ensure even the worst bed hoggers stay firmly in their lane throughout the nightcreated with- the Lane-Keeping Bed.
The Lane-Keeping Bed’s Origins
We are all most vulnerable when sleeping, and are programmed to wake when something, or someone, touches us unexpectedly.
This reaction is never more present than when someone moves onto your side of the bed at night.
When sleeping with a partner it is estimated many couples each have less space than what a small child typically enjoys in a single bed. It is a tight squeeze, with every inch of space is very important.
This endless bedtime battle was the basis for Ford developing the Lane-Keeping Bed.
How it Works
To prevent further nighttime arguments, Ford has incorporated technology currently found in all modern Ford vehicles and created a revolutinary bed – the Lane-Keeping Bed.
The Lane-Keeping Aid, installed in all modern Ford vehicles, currently helps drivers by monitoring road markings ahead of their vehicle and actively supports by safely guiding them back, if they have strayed slightly off course, into the correct lane by nudging the steering wheel in the correct direction.
This in-vehicle technology is key in the development of the Lane-Keeping Bed.
The revolutionary bed concept uses pressure sensors to identify when someone has strayed from their side of the bed and gently returns them to where they should be with the help of an integrated conveyor belt underneath the mattress.
Which means, when you feel your side of the bed is being invaded by your partner you won’t need to push them back to their side yourself, the bed will do it for you.
Unfortunately for couples currently waging a bed space war the Lane-Keeping Bed is still only a prototype.
