Ralph Lauren has been an influential figure in global style for over five decades and now the interior decoration of his ranch in Colorado is also a source of inspiration for home decoration.
Being described as “a brand that is not like fashion of the moment, [but] fashion of life”, Ralph Lauren has established an image reflecting a distinctive American perspective, comprising an innovative and aspirational lifestyle.
Over the years the designer has set up a corporation developing across an expanding number of products ranging from apparel to home furnishings.
The property in its entirety is furnished and decorated in a way that represents Ralph’s title of “the man who defined American style”.
The ranch itself is made up of five guesthouses. The main Lodge House, the Cook House (where food is prepared and eaten) and the four big tepees (used for entertaining) exemplify Western Style in the choice of fabrics, leathers, woods, colours and objects.
Details such as animal pelts, hunting trophies, cowboy hats and rugs from Arizona and New Mexico establish a western feel as if the decor has been taken out of a cowboy movie.
Ralph said: “This is a place for friends and for the children. They come with their friends and we with ours.[…] Here nature – the elements, the mountain and the animals overwhelms you. It has no ties with the world outside.”
