Best known for its high street fashion stores, River Island has followed in the footsteps of Next by releasing a new homeware range.
This latest innovation to the British brand will enable you to get the River Island aesthetic in your home, as well as in your clothing and accessories.
The current range contains 160 pieces including soft furnishings, décor accessories, ornaments, furniture and storage options each with a quirky, funky edge and a soft, feminine style.
At the moment, the range has three distinct trends. Electric Opulance is made up of antique trinkets, bold, garish cushions and small decorative ornaments. The items in this trend have a rich and extravagant colour palette.
This orange floral cushion is indicative of Electric Opulence. Bright patterns, and florals with an unusual colour twist are commonplace.
The Baby Doll trend focuses on throws, pillows and soft furnishings. Again, like Electric Opulence, it combines bold colours and funky prints.
Cream wool pouffe, £150
In the Baby Doll trend, soft furnishings are very soft indeed. It’s all about fluffy textures with a colour spectrum consisting of pinks, purples and creams.
Their third trend is the ever-popular Scandi-style New Nordic. The simplicity and elegance of Scandi trends have meant that it has stuck around, staying popular in our homes, when other trends have fallen out of favour.
Geometrics are hot hot hot right now. They are trending in wallpaper, on high street fashion and now also in rugs.
It’s eye-catching pattern in understated colour and wool-cotton blend give it that mix of warmth and elegant simplicity that Scandi does so well.
It remains to be seen whether River Island can match the success of Next in the homeware department but if this promising start is anything to go by, they have a chance!
