Nike have revealed their latest range of shoes will be made using recycled rubbish and will be their first ever 100 per cent vegan friendly footwear line.
The sportswear giants announced the Space Hippie will be their most environmentally friendly line of trainers yet, and will feature the lowest carbon footprint of any shoe created by the brand, ever.
The Space Hippie is Nike’s latest step towards creating a healthier future for the planet.
The soles of the potentially revolutionary shoes use 15 per cent Nike grind rubber combined with 100 per cent recycled foam materials.
The fabric makeup of the shoes are constructed from recycled plastic water bottles, t-shirts and scraps of yarn.
The Space Hippie is part of Nike’s “Move to Zero” initiative – shifting their business towards a zero carbon zero waste manufacturing cycle.
The sportswear giants are hoping to integrate more and more recycled materials into their everyday processes, whilst also using more renewable energy sources during each of the manufacturing steps.
The Space Hippie trainer will be available spring 2020 for Nike members at SNKRS and SNEAKERS online. They will also be available in-store at Nike flagship locations.
