© Waitrose

To coincide with the chilly wintry conditions sweeping the nation, Waitrose have revealed a new way to keep warm, which is both environmentally friendly and leaves homes with a delightful caffeine aroma.

The high-end supermarket announced eco-friendly logs made entirely from used coffee will be hitting their stores throughout the winter period in a bid to encourage more people to embrace a more sustainable, waste-free lifestyle.

Created by clean technology company, Bio-Clean, each log is made from the used grounds of approximately 25 cups of coffee, which have been collected from coffee shops, offices, restaurants, airports, train stations and universities from around the UK.

The unique heating solution looks just like a traditional log. They amazingly burn 20% hotter and emit 80% less carbon than traditional wood logs, perfect for when Jack Frost visits.

The logs offer a light scent of coffee when not in use, but when burning they smell similar to wood.

The Waitrose coffee logs are priced at £8.99 for 16 logs, and are available to buy in-store or at Waitrose online.
